Our Mission
We are an independent, non-profit, charitable organization, filled with a group of compassionate medical professionals. We recover, evaluate, and distribute donated corneas, making sure to honor the individuals who so selflessly give the gift of sight.
Our mission is to restore sight through corneal transplant, ocular research, and medical education. We promote eye, organ, and tissue donation, partnering with our community to bring the world into focus one person at a time.
Committed to tissue Quality, tissue Safety, and positive patient Outcomes (QSO), the ocular tissue we receive is a gift anchored in trust, starting with an individual's decision to be a donor, or a family's consent to donation. We are proud to be the honored stewards of these gifts.
Our Impact
The Eye Bank of Kentucky is dedicated to transforming lives by restoring sight, serving not only our Kentucky community but also contributing to national and global efforts in vision care. Each year, we facilitate hundreds of sight-restoring corneal transplants, partnering with local surgeons and healthcare providers to ensure that Kentuckians receive the highest quality care. Through community outreach and education, we raise awareness about the importance of eye health and organ donation, empowering individuals to make a lasting impact by becoming donors.
Our commitment extends far beyond Kentucky’s borders. By providing expertly prepared corneal tissue and eye care innovations to regions across the United States and internationally, we support a global network of surgeons, eye banks, and healthcare organizations dedicated to restoring sight. Our work is strengthened by a shared vision: a world where blindness from corneal disease is treatable, accessible, and preventable. This commitment to advancing eye health, fostering collaboration, and offering the gift of sight to those in need drives every aspect of our mission at the Eye Bank of Kentucky.
